Kanda Matsuri Festival
One ofthe three largest Shinto festivals in Japan
Held in May every two years, Kanda Matsuri is one of the most important festivals in Tokyo. As a festival of the Kanda Myojin Shrine, Kanda Matsuri is regarded as a celebration for wealth and good fortune. The festival features over 10 hours of parades with over 200 mikoshis, portable shrines, weaving through the areas of Kanda, Nihonbashi, Otemachi and Akihabara. These mikoshis are accompanied by almost a thousand people who are dressed in beautiful traditional costumes. Attend the festival and witness the massive mikoshi parades in Tokyo

Kōenji Awa Odori Festival
One of the largest traditional dancing festivals in Tokyo
With more than 10,000 dancers, Kōenji Awa Odori is regarded as one of the major summer festivals in Tokyo. Each year, over one million overseas travellers visit Kōenji to celebrate with the locals. Dance troupes from all over Japan will also join the high-quality competitions during the festival. Dressed in colourful traditional costumes, dancers perform the traditional ‘awa dance’ and brighten up the streets of Kōenji. Arrive early to secure a nice viewing spot and soak up the fun-filled atmosphere.
